Sung Dynasty Village, Lai Chi Kok

A traditional Sung Dynasty bride, her face covered in a red cloth, alights from her red sedan chair after passing in procession with a band and the village matchmaker through the market place of the replica Sung Dynasty Village. She steps onto a green carpet, since brides of the day were not permitted to walk on bare ground. The Village faithfully reproduces every aspect of a village of the time including a programme of entertainment, such as the wedding procession, designed to bring the market place to life for visitors.
