She Zhao Ke Yi in Fung Ying Seen Koon’s Collection

She Zhao Ke Yi, or The Ritual for Calling Upon the Souls of the Dead, is one of the texts used by the Hong Kong Quanzhen School for a salvation ritual. “She” means “extraction”, and “zhao” means “summon”. The Taoist priest extracts the dead from hell according to Taoist ways in the she-zhao ritual, so that the dead can undergo the “feeding and refining for deliverance” ritual later. This exhibit is a 1960s to 1970s printed copy from Fung Ying Seen Koon.
