St. John's Cathedral, Central (1987)

The main structure of St. John's Cathedral was completed in 1849, the bell tower in 1853, and the chancel was added in 1873. The church is Norman in style, and the most significant is its roof that has a rampart like the teeth of a saw; has long, narrow windows with a pointed top; and a wooden truss that supports the tiled roof. On the side of the cathedral is a wing hall. In the 1950s and 1960s, Hong Kong lacked sites for exhibition, so it was mainly used for art displays. In the 1980's, there was usually a free musical performance held at noon for the white-collar workers in Central District.
