Ohel Leah Synagogue, Mid-levels

The Ohel Leah Synagogue on Robinson Road in the Mid-levels laid its foundation stone in 1901. The architectural style of the building combines the synagogue-style that the early Christians used in Turkey and the Middle East in the 6th Century with the Eastern-Sephardic style in the 12th and 13th Century. The structure is Gothic in style. It comprises the civilization of eastern and western architecture with the essence of the religion. The synagogue has a store room for prayer books that faces west because Jerusalem is located to the west of Hong Kong. The believers all face west as they worship.
