The photo shows the factory of Kwok Kong Paint Manufacturers Co., Ltd which was founded in 1939. It was registered as a limited company and the company address was Marble Road, North Point. The Board of Directors would elect a manager to take charge of the company and Leung Man Chai was elected the manager in 1947. Leung earned his master degree in chemical engineering from a US university in California. He had taught as the professor in the National Sun Yat-sen University and Rangqin University, and did research on paint industry and paint theories. Kwok Kong Paint Manufacturers produced synthetic enamel and spray paint which were marketed under the brands of Ma Shen, Two Swords, Leopard and Dragonfly to markets such as Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Dutch Indonesia. When paint was in short supply after the Second World War, the company carried out research on self-made raw materials for paint production jointly with Lingnan University and National Sun Yat-sen University in order to solve the problem.
