With a career in journalism stretching nearly half a century, Louis Cha had in different occasions made remarks about his views about press freedom. The text in this manuscript titled On Press Freedom in Hong Kong is about Louis Cha's view on press freedom in Hong Kong at that time, and his vision about press freedom in Hong Kong after the Reunification. As stated on the manuscript, this Chinese text was never published but was later turned into English and given as opening speech to an international conference. Louis Cha was conferred Doctor of Letters honoris causa by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on 9 November 2007. This is Louis Cha's acceptance speech delivered at the ceremony. Louis Cha received the Life Achievement Award of the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards.
