Commercial Television (CTV), which started operations in 1975, started the trend for long-running TV serials in Hong Kong with productions such as Saga of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which premiered on 1 January 1976.
Hollywood Theatre, opened in 1964 and situated at the intersection of Soy Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street in Mong Kok, screened numerous Mandarin films produced by Shaw Brothers Studio.
