Racing Badges Sale Counter, Happy Valley Racecourse, 1985

This photo shows racegoers getting their admission badges at the sale counters at the racecourse entrance on the day of the race. Badge sale was operated by the Customer Relations Services Team of the On-course Betting department. In the 1980s, racegoers could also buy admission badges at off-course betting centers. Due to the large demand on admission badges, badge scalping was common at that time.
