St. Margaret's Church, Happy Valley

After the First World War, the population in Happy Valley grew rather fast. St. Francis Church in Wan Chai could no longer cater for the whole Catholic community. Bishop Pozzoni took, therefore, immediate steps to build a larger church in the area. The request for the site of the present St. Margaret's Church was submitted by the bishop to the Colonial Secretary in 1920. The 'exchange of sites' was granted on January 14, 1922 with effect from December 31, 1921. The corner stone was laid on February 3, 1923 and the construction of the church was finished at the end of 1923. The dedication took place on January 25, 1925 with the Pro-Vicar, Fr. Spada, officiating.
