Lindsay Ride with lecturers and students of The University of Hong Kong

Photograph of Professor Lindsay Ride (centre, front row) of The University of Hong Kong with lecturers and students of the medical school taken in 1941. Ride escaped from the prisoners of war camp in Sham Shui Po and fled to mainland China with the help of the East River Column in 1942. He founded the British Army Aid Group the following year to rescue British soldiers and civilians in mainland China and at the same time to conduct anti-Japanese intelligence work for the Allies.
