St. John's Ambulance Association and Brigade Headquarters, Tai Hang

The Hong Kong Island Area District Headquarters of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade was donated by Mr.Chau Man Chi. It was located in Tai Hang Road, Causeway Bay, and was officially opened in 1935. The Brigade provided the community with free ambulance and medical service. The St. John Ambulance Brigde was established in 1916. Actually, the Chinese Young Men's Christian Association of Hong Kong formed the first ambulance brigade in Hong Kong in 1908 to encourage mutual help.It offered free emergency services to the community.
