TWGHS - Tung Wah Museum

The former Hong Kong Benevolent Hall was established in 1851 to house the soul tablets of Hong Kong residents. In 1870, A hostel and charitable hospital were built on Po Yan Street after a sum of $30,000 was raised. From 1872 onwards, both Chinese and western medical services were available. The Tung Wah Group also runs old people's homes, rehabilitation centres and schools besides managing the three hospitals. The museum is in a building of ancient Chinese style inside the Kwong Wah Hospital on Waterloo Road. It houses historical documents related to the development of the hospitals.
