The base of the Flower Cannon must be sturdy enough to support the weight of the structure. However, with the name of the workshop and its telephone number painted on, it also serves as an advertising platform. Flower Cannons are the only examples of pitched paper crafting in which the maker is so easily identified; most crafters are anonymous. Such advertisements are considered perfectly proper, with no disrespect to the deity. The Cannon base shows the telephone number of the shop on a label.
