Nunchaku

With deft mastery, Bruce Lee made use of nunchaku of various lengths in the scenes he choreographed to showcase the prowess of this weapon: numerous and ever-changing strike angles with precious few blind spots and tremendous speed. Under Lee’s spell, this small weapon successfully took the world by storm.

The name ‘nunchaku’ originates from Okinawa, Japan and was allegedly a karate weapon used in ancient times, or a variation on the two-section staff. Invented by Mozi during the Warring States Period based on a grain thresher, a shorter stick was connected to a longer one with a chain. It was widely used to repel invading soldiers from scaling over city walls.
