Maker's Note | The back of the qin has been inscribed with poems and words from Madame Tsar Teh-yun. A seal in “bird and insect” script given to me by my good friend, Mao Darong is also inscribed onto the back. I have put my beloved literature, philology, calligraphy and seal script carving in this qin. Life is short, and it does not matter if my qin skills are good or bad, as the qin is intended only for my enjoyment. But through this qin, I will have left behind an instrument that incorporates the quintessence of Chinese culture and stands as an heritage artefact awaiting those from the future who will discover its secrets and make the connection. |
