In 1932, Japanese forces started the January 28 Incident in Shanghai. Over 200,000 people were affected by the war. Tung Wah raised HK$400,000 to provide relief to war victims in Shanghai. This tablet was presented to Tung Wah by Chief Commander of the 19th Route Army, Jiang Guangnai and Corps Commander Cai Tingkai, to commend the hospital for its relief efforts.
