Post-war Cantonese Film Cinema Circuits

National Theatre fronted the "Kam Kwok Circuit". This photo was taken in 1955, when The Story of Iron Monkey, the Sequel, directed by Wu Pang, was showing. National Theatre in 1964. Errant Deeds, starring Yu So Chow, was on show. The other poster was the next show Love and Affection, it was the inaugural film of Chi Luen Film Company Limited. (Photo: Chan Chiu Ming) Since the early 1950s, cinema operators often met up to share business knowledge. In 1956, the Hong Kong-Kowloon & New Territories Theatre Association Limited was established, which not only enabled members to mingle, but also facilitated communication within the industry. As the Association grew, it laid down industry regulations and also discussed matters such as copyright, licensing and censorship with the government. In 1988, its name was changed to Hong Kong Theatres Association Limited. The photo was taken at the 16th inauguration in 1970.
