A village square on Hong Kong Island

In his diary Auguste Borget describes how he drew this picture: 'I advanced to the middle part of the street and stationing myself opposite the temple, under an immense tree, whose roots stretched out on every side, I commenced sketching and was soon surrounded by gazers'.
