Brief History:

Leung Lung Kee Watch Case Factory (“Leung Lung Kee”) was founded in 1950. The founder, Leung Yat Lung, was a master worker at Sun Kee Watch Case Factory. From 1950 to 1953, Leung Lung Kee operated in Shek Kip Mei, Yau Me Tei, To Kwa Wan and Tai Kok Tsui. The primary product of Leung Lung Kee was watch case. It hired male workers to cut and polish the cases, and female workers to assemble and package them. The factory had around 80 workers in the beginning stage. The male workers were trained under an apprenticeship system. Early clients of the factory were local Hong Kong watch assembling companies and foreign importers. From 1967, Leung Lung Kee expanded overseas and opened brand factories in Singapore in 1967 and 1969. The Hong Kong factory was moved to the Kwai Chung area in 1974. In that same year, representatives were deployed to the US to explore new market opportunities. It began to receive orders from large American corporations such as ID Watchcase Corporation and Intel. Leung Lung Kee’s product quality and level of technological expertise improved continuously throughout the 1970s. It introduced advanced pressing technology from Europe, which enabled the making of exquisite mould base, and brought in the pin lathe from Japan. This turned Leung Lung Kee into a major watch case manufacturer.
