Maker's Note | Professor Jao Tsung-I and my teacher, Xu Wenjing were friends for decades. At one point in the early 1980s, he asked me to repair a qin from the Song Dynasty called Wanhesong and another made by Chen Lanfu. After the repairs were complete, he drew a painting called the Zhuoqintu (Qin Making) and gave it to me as a gift. This qin was named Wanhesong to commemorate our friendship. The back of the qin is carved with the words from the Zhuoqintu. |
