A picture for the 5th anniversary of New Generation was taken in 1979. New Generation first broadcasted from 1974 and was much beloved by the youths. This programme started the trend radio programmes hosted by disc jockeys (or ‘DJs’), leading to the DJ phenomenon of that period, and was regarded as the training ground of DJs.

Chu Pui Hing as host of the morning phone-in programme
RTHK is the pioneer in live public affairs phone-in programmes inviting views from the public. It started with Late Call hosted by Franklin Wong in 1969, followed by An Hour with Eddie by Eddie Au Yeung in the 1970s, later evolved into Talkabout hosted by Chu Pui Hing. Radio on TV programmes were created as broadcasting technology developed and media began to converge. Since 2016, several RTHK's radio programmes are broadcast on RTHK TV31 at the same time, including Talkabout, Accountability, Healthpedia, Invest Era, and Voices from the Hall. It was a short programme produced by RHK from 1950s to late 1960s, targeting at visitors to Hong Kong. In one of the episodes, presenter Ralph Pixton described the colourful Dragon Boat Festival in Hong Kong to the audience.
